Welcome to ICSMM’24, an international conference on Smart Materials in Manufacturing organized by the Centre for Additive Manufacturing, Chennai Institute of Technology, India.
The ICSMM’24 conference focuses significant importance on advancing research in the fields of smart materials in manufacturing. It provides a centralized forum for deep learning by promoting the qualitative comparison and performance evaluation of novel engineering components. ICSMM’24 will include an effective keynote speech / invited talks by eminent national and international speakers, and presentations by conference attendees on topics related to novel approaches for smart materials in manufacturing.
ICSMM ’24 aims to provide a productive forum for students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals to engage in conversation, exchange their research ideas, and research feasible solutions for the advancement of smart materials in manufacturing. Further, ICSMM ’24 focus embraces the whole process entailed in developing novel economical smart materials and the potential applications for the forthcoming researchers. Besides, there will be three simultaneous tracks encompassing materials synthesis, manufacturing processes, measurement and applications.
The Centre for Additive Manufacturing (CAM) is dedicated to conducting research in the field of additive manufacturing, with particular emphasis on metal and polymer materials. The center’s research encompasses several areas of interest, including advancements in polymer/ metal 3D printing for bioimplantations, automobile and aircraft parts. Further, research efforts are dedicated to the development of functionally graded materials, the exploration of composite materials, the enhancement of lattice structures, and the design of numerical models for welding processes. Besides, the additive manufacturing centre is equipped with a range of facilities, such as a filament extruder, FDM printing machine, customized single-axis wire arc additive manufacturing machine, optical microscope, universal testing machine, microhardness tester etc.

It has played a very crucial role in the traditional, historical, and academic development of the nation, serving as a representation of the many aspects of the esteemed culture. Today, Chennai, the capital city is the 4th largest city of India and is also the leading commercial center of South India. The credit for the booming economy of the city goes to the leading industries including automobile, software services, petrochemicals, financial services, textiles, and hardware manufacturing. Also, Chennai, being an important metropolitan city is very well-connected to all the major cities of India as well as with the countries overseas. And, it is also considered the cultural hub of South India which is famous for its affluent heritage in classical dance, music, architecture, sculpture, crafts, etc.
